The 板橋榮譽國民之家 (under the 國軍退除役官兵輔導委員會) has published an official release, “A Smart Care Revolution! Service Robots Arrive at 板橋榮譽國民之家, Saving 1,500+ Hours of Ward-Round Labor a Year,” spotlighting the “multi-shelf integrated convenience-class autonomous mobile robot” deployed and integrated by Sigma Robotics.
At this large care facility — more than 800 beds, with residents averaging over 83 years old — a day in the life of the robot looks like this:
- By day: delivering diapers, medical consumables, and other supplies to each nursing station
- By night: running autonomous patrols, using zero-contact sensors to monitor residents’ vital signs and bed-exit events
According to the facility’s own figures, the robot replaces roughly 250 minutes of work per day and frees up more than 1,500 hours of staff time over a year — letting caregivers “spend their time where it truly matters,” shifting from rushed rounds to warmer companionship and more attentive observation of residents’ conditions.
The release also sketches the next step: a smart closed-loop architecture in which “the sensors are the eyes, the robot is the legs, and the nurse is the brain” — when an emergency is detected, a robot is automatically dispatched to the scene to stream back live video.
